The Japan Commercial Broadcasters Association (JBA) Awards 2025 have been announced, with Kansai TV's drama series “Unmet: A Neurosurgeon’s Diary” receiving Grand Prix in the Television Drama Program category.
The JBA Awards were established by the association in 1953 to encourage the production and broadcast of high-quality programs, promote excellence in commercial production and technological innovation, and further advance social contribution activities through broadcasting.
This marks the third consecutive year a Kansai TV drama has won the Grand Prix in this category, following “Elpis” and “When Spring Comes”.

“Unmet: A Neurosurgeon’s Diary” tells the story of a neurosurgeon suffering from a memory disorder who has lost the past two years of her life and forgets each day by the next. While wrestling with the question, “Am I still a doctor?”, she continues to save her patients.

The selection committee commented: “The actors' restrained, sincere performances have overwhelming realism. Combined with the production team's earnest craftsmanship that highlights this, the drama quietly yet powerfully conveys what is essential for human life, earning high praise.”

Based on the Manga “Unmet”by Yuzuru Kojika, Kanto Otsuki originally published by KODANSHA Ltd.
