Matsuri Hoshino is the daughter and secretary of a powerful ruling-party leader, raised as his political successor. Guided by her belief that individual happiness cannot exist unless the entire world is happy, she has lived entirely for politics. Her life collapses when an anonymous letter accuses her father of corruption linked to a new drug approval. Trying to uncover the truth, Matsuri is betrayed by a trusted young politician and is cast out of both her job and her home.
At her lowest point, she meets Akari Tsukioka, a former teacher who quit after a tragic failure and now works at a small bar. When a sudden Tokyo governor election is called, Matsuri convinces the politically inexperienced Akari to run as a candidate.
With only three months, no organization, and no political backing, the two women launch a grassroots campaign for the voiceless, standing together against Japan’s corrupt political system.
