Released after nine years in prison for murder, Haruo　hears that his former girlfriend Mariko has died of an illness. In the course of events, Haruo encounters a young girl named Sachi who eventually learns of her relation to Haruo, though he maintains that Yasushi is her father. Then, when the son of the man Haruo killed mistakes Yasushi for Haruo and attacks him, Haruo shields Yasushi and is stabbed.
