Ars Electronica is very unique institution, and organization.
That is bringing together art, technology and society.
So it's an organization that is trying to bridge the gap between the technology on the one side, the society and the creative people on the other side.
And this is something that we do is many different activities.
So Ars Electronica has big festival every year.
Ars Electronica has international award competition for computer arts.
Ars Electronica is big center for education and information.
Ars Electronica is also laboratory where very innovative and creative people from the arts and the engineering field are working together to realize new ideas.
What does it mean?
Well it means that in several areas of our progress and development we have vast certain points of no return.
For example, when we look at whole situation of our environment, climate change and pollution, this is no longer problem that is ahead of us.
It is a problem that is alreadyin the middle of the problem.
So what we need is no longer another festival that is, say, "Oh! Take care there is a problem ahead of us."
We need ideas and measurements to start to make it better to repair it.
Because we have damaged some parts of our nature and the only things we can do now is to repair it.
That's also, I think, in some fields of our global information technology, when we look at a big amount of surveillance control the lots of privacy,
this is something that most of us don't want, we want to have all this new and technology but we want to do it in a good way,
so also here we have to repair the situation.
And I think the important point what we want to point out with this festival is that to repair things we have to come up with new ideas, new ideas are very often coming again from the arts from the brains, idea of the artists.
Again we want to show the examples of the artists. How they think of our world in a different way.
We want to show this as a way of encouragement for people. You say, ok it's too late to be pessimist.
We have problems, but we can solve it but we only can solve it, if we start immediately if we start now.
